Turn your cans into house keys!

Take all your aluminum cans and all metals to Shelby’s Recycling and tell them to put it on the Habitat account. You’ll help to save the environment and help a family in need. Shelby’s is located at 620 W Madison St. They are open M-F from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. They will take all your scrap metal, electronics, appliances and old cars and turn them into money for Habitat! Form Requirements

Qualifying for a Home

You may qualify for a Habitat for Humanity of Simpson County home if you meet the following criteria:

Need for Housing

Unsafe Housing: problems with structural, water, electrical, sewage, or heating/cooling systems and/or failure to meet property maintenance standards

Overcrowded Living: the ratio of childrean/occupants (depending on the number, ages and gender) and the number of bedrooms in your present housing

Being 'Homeless': living with friends or family or another inconsistent situation.

Willingness to Partner with Habitat

Homeowners are required to put in 300 hours of sweat equity, must be willing to be involved in Habitat's publicity programs (i.e. picture in the paper, meeting volunteers, budgeting classes, etc.) and must pay the $700.00 closing costs.

Low Steady Income

Homeowners must earn between 30%—60% of the Simpson County median income as determined by HUD. Numbers 1-8 represent the number of people living in the household, income ranges represent minimum to maximum reported median income.
